The Bornia Boy's wish to be on Hiatus
until futher notice.
Thank you for understanding!

John Firman
RIP
1945 – 2008

At 5:10 PM, June 23, 2008 John Firman our beloved friend, cousin, brother in music, and our lead guitar player, lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

There are really no words that can truly express the loss we all feel at this time, but I will try.

Many times when you play in a band with someone the act of playing music draws you closer to the other members of the band. You become like family. In our case John literally was family. Gene our lead singer is the cousin to Ann Firman, John’s life partner, his wife, his love, and his collaborator in all things. And David our drummer is Gene’s son, so they not only lost a good friend and musical collaborator but a close, deeply loved family member as well!

For myself, and I’m sure I speak for Chuck & Eric too! John was a great friend with whom we all got to know and collaborate with, all to briefly. But that all to brief time, was all quality time! John! You touched us deeply!

I know I speak for the whole band when I say that even though the time we had to collaborate with John was all to brief. We will always dearly cherish that time for the rest of our lives. John you are missed now, and you will be missed long into the future my friend.

Rest in Peace, gentle soul!
Save us a place in the band!
Our love be with you always!

Bornia Boy’s (a Blues Band)
Or
The Blues meets Italian America, via Hollister & the South Bay!

I am very happy to say that I am in another fine band other then Blues Cadillac, which I’m also, still a proud &
happy member of this other band is the Bornia Boy’s. (More on this name soon) It’s also a Blues Band and
has I’d say a more (I hesitate to use this word… It’s loaded w/baggage) "Traditional" Blues sound to it. I’m very
happy in both bands & like the contrast very much.

Some day The Bornia Boy’s might have our own separate dedicated web site. But for now we’ll start out
as a page on mine (Please if you’re not into my "Kustom Kulture" visual art elsewhere on this site just
book mark this page… I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea). I’m just going to start out simply with a
"Gig Calendar" and photo gallery. Soon I hope to add a story about how we came up with the name, etc.
And I hope to put up 3 or 4 MP3 sound clips so you can taste of the Bornia Boy’s Blues Marinara for your self.

Briefly for now… You mix Olive Oil with the Blues and somethin’ tasty is gonna come outa’ that musical
kitchen! Believe that! We are a 6-piece Blues Band consisting of a Vocalist, Lead/Slide Guitar, Key Board’s,
Bass, Drums, and Harmonica’s. To add to the fun we’ve been having we all came up with nicknames.
Our fearless leader & Vocalist Gene Parodi, is AKA "Shindigo" (to be explained soon), Our beloved Guitarist
John Firman is AKA "Slidin’ Slim Bornia", Our keyboard man Erik Hoyer is AKA "Cement Finger’s Bornia".
Bass Guitarist/Musical Arranger extraordinar Chuck Fike is AKA "Bottom Line Bornia". Our illustrious
Drummer Dave Parodi (son of Gene) is AKA "Rebound Jr. Bornia". And yours truly "Eye Bone" is AKA
"Bornia Bone". It’s a great bunch of musicians hailing from the South Bay and Hollister that I’m very proud
to know! Also trust me! The musical chemistry is there as well!

Well that doesn’t really begin to cover what we could about this band, but it will do for starters. Please come
on out and see us for yourself… that would certainly be much better then any showy P.T. Barnum esc fraise
turning’s I could trowel onto this web page, anyway!

Hope to see you at a gig!

Tongue in Cheeck Warning!
Now come on folks don’t take much of this stuff too seriously! Please keep in mind at all times while viewing this web site, that in 85-90%
of everything I say in words or with my art (except maybe for when I complain about mans inhumanity to man),
my tongue is firmly, deeply, imbedded in my cheek!!!
